Cedarwell Green Statement
Here at Cedarwell we are proud to have moved away from using solid pine and gone towards a more laminated material.
This has the benefit of reducing the incidents of knots and defects during manufacture and increases yield from the tree by 30%. At Cedarwell we only use FSC-Sustainable Timber.
We always buy our wood from local timber suppliers.
We are part of the Egger ‘Reduce your carbon footprint’ scheme. This is where Egger plants a tree for every ‘decorative collection’ product bought. This ensures the forests that they use are kept sustainable.
All our employees are from our local area. We offer all employees a cycle to work scheme. This encourages employees to cycle to work rather than driving. We are located 10 minutes from the M1 which helps reduce travel time and air pollution.
We always donate all our wood offcuts to the schools in our local area, this contributes to making sure our waste is kept to a minimum.
When designing we always make sure we design the jobs using as little waste as possible and when building the furniture, we build in a way that ensures the longevity of the product and don’t use knock down fittings.
We also like to reuse/recycle wherever possible. Asking that all packages that we send or receive use minimal packaging wherever possible.
All packaging sent to us is always reused. Waste Paper is recycled, only paper with personal or sensitive information on is shredded or burnt.
We have ensured that the lighting in the workshop and in our office is all LED as these have a long lifespan and are energy efficient.
In the workshop and in the office all electrical equipment is always switched off when not in use.
We use our general wood waste (that is suitable for burning) for kindling and firewood then we donate it to the local people to help heat their homes.
At Cedarwell we like to support our local businesses ie. the local milkman.
